Van Basten
Marco Van Basten, the Dutch striker who is still regarded as one of the greatest European forwards of all time. He was named player of the tournament when Holland won the European Championships in 1988 scoring five goals in total with the memorable volley from an acute angle in the final against Russia. In a career shortened by injury he scored 24 international goals in 58 games. At club level he was World Player of the Year in 1992 and won the Ballon d'Or three times, in 1988, 1989 and 1992. He won three Eredivisie titles and the Cup Winners Cup with Ajax, and three Serie A titles and two European Cups with Milan alongside Frank Rijkaard and Ruud Gullit.
